The Ferrari-Carano Harvest 2014 Estate Olive Oil has won “best of show” in the Sonoma County Harvest Fair’s 2015 Professional Food & Wine Competition.

The olive oil is a blend of Italian varietals, including Frantoio, Coratina, Leccino and Pendolino olives. It received a double gold medal in the “Delicate” category for Sonoma County Grown olive oils.

In addition, Ferrari-Carano received a double gold in the California grown “Citrus” category for its Meyer Lemon Olive oil.

Other olive oils winning double golds in the competition include Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm Miller’s Blend, Capay Gold Olive Oil Hojiblanca, The Olive Press’ Serillano, The Olive Press’ Clementine, The Olive Press’ Blood Orange and the Dry Creek Olive Company’s Jalapeno-Manzanilla.

The olive oil is the first category to be judged in the annual competition, which invites the food and wine community to enter their most delicious creations for judging in the late summer and fall.

This year’s olive oil competition drew dozens of entries in the California Grown and Sonoma County Grown categories. Of the oils submitted by 13 producers this year, eight received double gold, nine received gold and 15 received silver medals.
