BBQ festival in Rohnert Park to fire up the competition

50 of the best pit masters will compete to become 'King of the Grill' at the annual challenge taking place at Sonoma Mountain Village, July 10 and 11.|

The fifth annual Wine Country Big Q BBQ Competition and Festival will fire up the big grills from 1 to 5 p.m. July 10 and 11, at the Sonoma Mountain Village in Rohnert Park.

During the festival, 50 of the best pit masters from around the country will compete for “King of the Grill” in challenges that range from the Winery Big Beef Challenge and Best Tri-Tip to the Bold Bean Challenge and Bakin’ for Bacon Dessert.

The nationally sanctioned competition will serve authentic barbecued meats, wines and brews while cranking up the rock and blues music. Tickets are $45 general ($20 for kids 12 and younger), including eight food tickets and four drink tickets. winecountrybigq.com or at the door.

The Sonoma Mountain Village is located at 1300 Valley House Drive, off Petaluma Hill Road south of the Sonoma State University campus.
