Starbucks tapping into beer, wine, tapas at locations in Sonoma County, Bay Area
Change is brewing at Starbucks Coffee, which has started rolling out a new program, 'Starbucks Evenings,' featuring a small selection of wine, beer and small plate dishes served after 4 p.m.
The concept has already been launched in the company's hometown of Seattle as well as in L.A., and is reportedly headed for the San Francisco Bay Area as well.
According to SF Eater, the coffee company has submitted an application to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to sell beer and wine in stores across the Bay Area, including Santa Rosa (11), Petaluma (8) and Napa (7.) KTVU-TV searched the ABC's database and found that Starbucks has applied for a license at 39 stores in California.
At the Starbucks website, the sample menu for Starbucks Evenings includes Small Plates such as Truffle Mac & Cheese, Bacon-Wrapped Dates, Chicken Skewers and Truffle Popcorn. There are calories listed but no prices.
The wine list includes wines from Oregon, Washington, California, Argentina, New Zealand and Italy. The only Sonoma County wine among the bunch was the Chardonnay from Ferrari-Carano.
