Sonoma County has been a world class wine region for decades and it’s nice to see Moët Hennessy has confirmed it with its new releases – the Smoke Tree, 2014 Sonoma County Pinot Noir at $24 and its Smoke Tree, 2014 Sonoma County Chardonnay at $19.

Moët Hennessy is the beverage-focused side of the luxury conglomerate LVMH, with Louis Vuitton.

A company official said statistics revealed that pinot noir is the 3rd most popular varietal in the $20-plus category. Pinot noir is also second only to cabernet with reds and it’s growing almost twice as fast as cabernet. Sonoma, she said, was the obvious choice to expand the company’s pinot portfolio.
