Jim and Phyllis (Beyer) Imand celebrated their “60th” anniversary with their family dining at Copolla’s Winery. A trip to Monterey Coast is planned.

After graduating from Rollins College in 1951, in Florida, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving one year in Korea. Phyllis graduated from Makoti High School and attended Minot State College. Jim returned from Korea in 1953 and was assigned to a radar squadron in Minot, North Dakota.

Jim kept seeing Phyllis at ball games, movies, and restaurants, telling his buddies, “I want to meet that girl.” One Sunday when Jim’s “mystery girl” was ice skating with an airman’s friend, it must have been kismet, because it was Jim’s first time at the rink and now he could finally get her name.

They met on a blind date (for Phyllis) went to a movie and dancing. While at the movie a person rows down from them was having a seizure, Jim flew down the aisle to assist. He made a huge impression on Phyllis. To top it off, he was a great dancer, which was icing on the cake because Phyllis loves to dance.

They were married on September 18, 1955, in Minot. They lived in Florida, Colorado, New Jersey and Pennsylvania before being transferred to Novato, California. Jim retired in 1990 as Regional

Vice-President at McGraw Hill Book Company. They have lived in Sonoma County for 44 years. Phyllis was a full time homemaker and since 1984 has worked for Santa Rosa City School District as a secretarial substitute.

They enjoy traveling and have been in all 50 states, Tahiti, Whistler, B.C., Cabo and spend February in Palm Desert, CA Jim is an avid sports fan, enjoys most sports on T.V., working in their beautiful flower garden, and volunteering at their church. For 15 years Phyllis has enjoyed dancing and doing comedy skits with the Rohnert Park Kut-Ups annual revue. She has been a volunteer at Schulz Museum since 2002 and has been active in Beta Sigma Phi Philanthropic Sorority for 55 years. Her passions include oil painting, piano, tennis, bridge and tap dancing. They attend Spring Hills Community Church.

Family members are: daughter Carrie Myers (Ron) Windsor, son Jim Jr. Sparks, Nevada, daughter Jennifer Krush (Kevin) Sparks, Nevada, and 5 “precious” grandchildren.
