Catherine Margaret Mullen and Erik Michael Simon Groot

Catherine Margaret Mullen and Erik Michael Simon Groot were married by Father Sean Rogers at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Healdsburg on Oct. 17, 2015. The bride, known as Catha, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Mullen Jr. of Healdsburg, formerly of Bronxville, N.Y. Her mother is a community volunteer and member of the Healdsburg AAUW. Her father, who is retired, was a senior partner at the law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York.

The bride, 30, is a graduate of Princeton University, earning her degree with honors in political science. The bride received her MBA from Stanford Business School. Presently she is a Director of Strategy and Business Development at Personal Capital, a digital financial advisory firm in San Francisco. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Peter Slusser who own and operate the Slusser Ranch in Windsor. The bride is the great-great-great granddaughter of George Guerne who founded a lumber mill in 1867 and for whom the town of Guerneville was named, and Levi Samuel Bacon Slusser, who arrived in Sonoma County in 1846. The bride’s great-great-grandfather, Ney Donovan, was the original owner of the Santa Rosa fairgrounds.

The groom, 33, is a graduate of McGill University, earning his Bachelor of Science and graduating with Great Distinction. The groom received an MBA from Harvard Business School. Presently, he is a partner at Angel Island Partners, an investment manager in San Francisco.

Erik is the son of Patricia Johnston and Donald Groot of Canmore, Canada and Palm Desert, Calif. The groom’s mother is president of InForum Inc., a business management firm. Donald is a retired dermatologist and founder of the Groot Dermasurgery Centre in Edmonton, Canada.
