101 North opens new Petaluma taproom

Fans of company’s best-selling Heroine IPA and other brews can now drink them on site.|

The 101 North Brewing Co. has opened a taproom at its facility in Petaluma, making a short stretch of road in its neighborhood a delight for beer lovers.

The 101 North taproom is within walking distance of similar ones at Petaluma Hills Brewing Co. and Lagunitas Brewing Co., both along North McDowell Boulevard.

Part-owners Joel and Jake Johnson opened their brewery in 2012 and designed the taproom feel similar to their grandparents’ farmhouse on Petaluma Boulevard, using reclaimed barn wood to surround the walls of interior.

The taproom is open Wednesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There are eight taps, including one tap that uses nitrogen gas instead of carbon dioxide for a creamier taste.

The brewery’s best-selling Heroine IPA, along with Golden Naked Ale and Naughty And Imperial Stout will always be on tap, and those are the only three beers that can be filled with a growler. The taproom does not serve food, but guests are welcome to bring their own.
