In my family, I'm the oldest of three girls. Naturally, our house was full of Barbies, nail polish, and teenage girl drama. It was also a house of sports, helping out in the yard, and accompanying my dad on dump runs or events at the race track. Do you know of a dad who should be commended for his role as a father? Perhaps it was your dad, your husband, your brother, or another man in your life who is a true example of what a father should look like.

My dad may have been the father of three girls, but he didn't feel it necessary to comply to stereotypical gender roles. He coached our soccer teams. He taught us how to mow the lawn. He took us for hikes in the hills. And when his work as a real estate appraiser cut into his time at home, he took us with him so we could still spend time as a family.

I was lucky to have a wonderful dad as a role model and mentor. And now, I am lucky that my kids get to have an amazing grandfather in him.
