Gearhead: Walk on water with Mirage Eclipse

Replace paddling with pedaling to power your way through water on this lightweight board.|

Talk about fun and fitness on the water. Jump onto the Mirage Eclipse, grab the bicycle-type handlebar and fingertip steering controls, start pedaling to power underwater fins that propel the Eclipse forward and away you go, skimming effortlessly across lakes, bays, estuaries and other beautiful bodies of water. It’s that easy: just step on and go.

A cargo bungee secures a pack with your picnic and personal items, and tie-downs on the aft deck tightly hold a cooler or optional H-crate. And when you’re ready to leave, the handlebar, rudder and other extendable parts remove easily and lock down for transport.

The Mirage Eclipse comes in two sizes. The 10-5 is 10 feet, 6 inches long and 33.5 inches wide, and accommodates up to 225 pounds. The 12-0 is 12 long and 35” wide, and holds up to 275 pounds. They come in two colors, Solar Yellow and Lunar Blue. $2,499-$2,599. hobiecat.com.
