Santa Rosa, Napa among Top 20 US cities for backyard parties

The two North Bay cities are among the best U.S. cities for backyard entertaining, according to a popular online retailer.|

Santa Rosa and Napa are two of the best U.S. cities for backyard entertaining, according to Wayfair.com.

The online retailer, which specializes in furnishings and other items for the home, looked at sales data, broken down by region, of outdoor summer goods across 15 popular categories including grills, meat smokers, outdoor dining sets, outdoor bars, chaise lounges, hammocks, pool floats and lawn games.

Santa Rosa came in at 19, lagging behind Napa, which ranked No. 5 and San Diego at No. 11.

Other places that know how to live well out of doors were in Florida - Palm Coast came out No, 1 - Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Georgia and South Carolina.

“Outdoor spaces are a natural extension of the home and we're seeing the consumers are increasingly focused on transforming their backyards into functional living areas where they can unwind and access many comforts of home without stepping inside,” said Alex Bowman, a trend forecast for the Boston-based Wayfair.
