5 tasty budget wines to uncork on a lazy summer day

With the summer winding down, there’s no time to waste to kick back with one of these delicious summer wines.|

If you look at the calendar, you’ll be shocked to see that we only have a few weeks left of summer. The sad truth is we’re running out of sun-drenched days to lollygag. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to uncork these 5 lollygag wines sooner than later. At $15 and under, these tasty wines are a steal.

Chateau de Brigue, 2012 Cotes de Provence, Rosé, 12.5%, $8. This is a delicate rosé, with notes of raspberry, strawberry and watermelon on the finish. Bright acidity. Great balance. Tasty. (50% grenache, 25% cinsault, 25% cabernet.)

Kaiken, 2015 Salta Argentina Torrontes, 13.5%, $12. This lovely white has notes of tropical fruit, mineral and a hint of peach.

Carol Shelton, 2015 Rendezvous Rosé, 13%, $15. This is a dry rosé with notes of strawberry, watermelon and mineral. Bright acidity. Great lift. Lovely.

Lindeman’s, 2015 Bin 85 Pinot Grigio, 12.5%, $11. This pinot grigio has bewitching aromas – jasmine and white nectarine. Notes of apple and pear in the mix. Delightful. Finishes crisp.

McManis, 2015 River Junction California Viognier, 13.5%, $13. This is a tasty viognier with some gorgeous fruit behind it – apricot, peach and nectarine. It all rides on bright acidity. Lingering finish. Lovely.
