October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here is a partial list of local events:

SONOMA COUNTY, October

More Than Pink: More Than Pink campaign at Santa Rosa Plaza, Coddingtown Mall and Petaluma Village Premium Outlets. Donate $10 to Susan G. Komen and receive a discount card at participating retailers.

SONOMA COUNTY, Oct. 4 & 18

Support group: Breast Cancer Support Group meets first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, free and open to the community. Open to breast cancer patients at any stage of diagnosis, treatment or recovery. This is a facilitator-led support group offering encouragement and guidance for coping with life changes related to breast cancer diagnosis and survival. SANTA ROSA, Oct. 7

Catwalk for the Cure: Sutter Health's 14th annual Catwalk for the Cure fashion show to benefit cancer support services. Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. Clothes modeled by local individuals/groups, including firefighters, members of Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce, 20/30 Club.

ROHNERT PARK, Oct. 8

Making Strides: Participate in a noncompetitive 5K walk for Making Strides of Sonoma County, a celebration of survival. Screenings discussion: Dr. Barbara Borbeck will discuss preventative screenings and precautionary tools available to women as part of Women's Health Education Series. Women's Health Education series: Radiologic technologist Janet McCann will discuss the difference between 2-D and 3-D mammography imaging, and show those interested the 3-D scanner as part of Women's Health Education Series. SEBASTOPOL, through Oct. 31

‘Save the Cans': Taylor Maid Farms will run a “Save the Cans” promotion during October. Each month, customers recycle more than 1,000 cans of Taylor Maid organic coffee by refilling them. In October, the company will donate 5 percent of refill coffee sales to the Ceres Community Project. Locations are Taylor Maid's retail coffee bar at 6790 McKinley St., Sebastopol.

ST. HELENA, through Dec. 31

Sutter Home for Hope: After Vera Trinchero, one of Sutter Home's founding family members, was diagnosed with breast cancer, the winery launched Sutter Home for Hope in 2001 to help raise money to find a cure. Since then, Sutter Home for Hope has raised more than $900,000. To donate, mail in any of the special pink corks found in the Sutter Home white merlot, white zinfandel and pink moscato, or the regular corks, screw caps or capsules. The foundation will donate $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation up to $50,000 for each one received by mail or texted as a photo through Dec. 31. Inmar Rebate Center, P.O.
