North Coast Wine & Food Festival

The Press Democrat will hold the 2017 North Coast Wine & Food Festival, showcasing the gold medal-winning wines from the North Coast Wine Challenge Competition, from 1 to 4 p.m. June 10 at the SOMO Village in Rohnert Park.

In addition to pouring more than 90 winning wines from the competition, the festival will feature an impressive array of top chefs from Wine Country, plus educational talks and entertainment. The festival was formerly known as the North Coast Wine Challenge Event.

Special guest appearances will be given by John Ash, father of Wine Country cuisine, and Clark Wolf, a national restaurant consultant and champion of local food and farmers.

Participating chefs will include Dustin Valette of Valette in Healdsburg, Duskie Estes of Zazu in Sebastopol, Mathew Williams and Moishe Hahn-Schuman of Ramen Gaijin in Sebastopol, John Toulze of The Girl & the Fig in Sonoma, Daniel Kedan of Backyard Forestville, Liza Hinman of The Spinster Sisters in Santa Rosa, Crista Luedtke of Boon Eat + Drink in Guerneville, Scott Romano of Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg, Armando Garcia of El Dorado Kitchen in Sonoma, Matt Beaudin of the Monterey Bay Aquarium cafe, Jeffrey Jake of Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Natalie Goble of Handline in Sebastopol, Perry Hoffman of Healdsburg Shed, Joe Zobel of Peter Lowell’s in Sebastopol and Hog Island Oyster Co. of Marshall.

The Press Democrat’s North Coast Wine Challenge Competition will take place on April 11 and 12. Only wines produced and bottled in the North Coast AVAs (Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, Marin and parts of Solano counties) may compete.

Only gold medals and above are awarded. Wines will be awarded in the Best of Class by wine category and Best of County. One wine will win the top award, the Best of the Best.
