An impressive starting line of scenic cycling and running races gets off to a start in Sonoma County this week.|

OUTDOOR EXPO, MARCH 31-APRIL 2

Santa Rosa: The second annual Sonoma Outdoor Expo and Travel Show will run on Friday from noon- 7p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The expo includes live music at Shade Park, a Hall of Travel in the Grace Pavilion, with boat, RV and truck dealers, and home improvement vendors. Admission is $5 Friday and $8 Saturday and Sunday. BIKE RACE APRIL 1

Lake Sonoma: BikeMonkey of Santa Rosa's SoNoMas single-track, mountain bike marathon race starts 9 a.m. at the Warm Springs Recreation Area, 3333 Stewards Point-Skaggs Springs Road. There are three courses: the 35-mile Boar's Tusk for pros and expert men and women; the 25-mile Feral Pig for open sport women and open beginner men and women; and the 14-mile Little Piggy for men and women beginners. Registration is $79 for the Boar's Tusk and Feral Pig and $59 for Little Piggie. MUD RUN APRIL 2

Forestville: The 5K and 10K loop -obstacle course Russian River Mud Run is on the Ya Ka Ama property at 7450 Steve Olson Lane off Eastside Road in Forestville. It's sponsored by Petaluma Poultry, Dicks Sporting Goods and La Tortilla Factory. The runs begin at 8 a.m. and there is a free admission to the festival with food, games and activities 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The event is geared toward families and children and welcomes teams of five and groups of 10 or more.

Registration for individual adults is $70 and $35 for kids 8-15 in the 5K run, and $85 for adults 16 and up and $40 for kids 8-15 in the 10K run.

Bibs for the run are available before the run at Dick's Sporting Goods, 1795 Cleveland Ave. in Santa Rosa.

Bibs on the day of the race are $15. There also is a $10 parking fee. Cash is required for fees and food vendors at the festival. The run is not timed and it happens rain or shine. No pets are allowed. Visit www.petalumapoultry.com or www.russianrivermudrun.com for registration and details.

ANNADEL RUN APRIL 8

Santa Rosa: The 13.1-mile half-marathon and the 5K run at Trione-Annadel State Park start at the Spring Lake swimming lagoon, 393 Violetti Road at 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. respectively. Half-marathon registration is $75 and $85 after April 1, and 5K registration is $40, $45 after April 1. Half-marathon proceeds go toward trail building and maintenance at Trione-Annadel State Park and 5K funds are for trails in Taylor Mountain Regional Park in Santa Rosa. There also is a 2-mile course with handicap accessibility. Parking is $7.
