Food and drink events for week of Feb. 2

Pliny the Younger, cheese and wine, crab feeds, and more to delight your palate in this week's food happenings.|

SANTA ROSA

Get ready for Pliny

The annual release of Russian River Brewing’s famous Pliny the Younger will happen Feb. 2-15 at the brewery’s downtown Santa Rosa location, so expect plenty of lines and plenty of growlers stretching across several blocks. The award-winning brew, which was once named the best beer in America, has triple the hops of a regular IPA, making it difficult and expensive to make. The brew is also not bottled, making it even more special to fans. 725 Fourth St., Santa Rosa.

SANTA ROSA

Great Sonoma Crab and Wine Fest

This is an event smart locals wait for all year. Gather in the Grace Pavilion at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa starting at 4 p.m. Feb. 3 for the gallery reception and silent auction, followed at 6:30 p.m. by the crab feed dinner, featuring local wines and a live auction.

Not surprisingly, the tickets - priced at $85 - are sold out, but cruise the Internet and social media, just in case some ticket-holder has to change plans. You might have some luck. sonomafb.org

Wine, women, chefs and cheese fundraiser

?The 12th annual fundraiser for the Sonoma County YWCA is adding a new element - chefs - to its lineup of female wine and cheesemaking honorees. This year, Jackson Family Wines’ Tracey Shepos Cenami has been tapped as the first chef honored by the organization for her tireless efforts to feed fire victims last fall, her cheesemaking and wine and cheese pairing experience, as well as her distinguished career in both restaurants and the winery. Also honored at the April 13 event will be Chateau St. Jean winemaker Margo Van Staaveren. The event is held at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, with ticket information at ywcasc.org. Proceeds benefit the program’s domestic violence programs.
