Tasting in Alexander Valley

Enjoy a two-day wine festival hosted by 21 wineries of Alexander Valley from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23-24 during the annual Experience Alexander Valley weekend.

Hosted by the Alexander Valley Winegrowers, the weekend includes your choice of four experiences, each limited to 24 guests. Experiences feature education, such as Bordeaux blending and breakfast at White Oak; culinary. such as sausage making at Hawkes; or active. such as a vineyard hike and wine flight at Seghesio Family Vineyards.

The McEvoy Ranch Social Club will host its first series of informative gatherings — dubbed Chat — at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 17, at the west Petaluma olive ranch.

The topic will be “Transformations: The Art of Fermentation,” with speakers ranging from the McEvoy Ranch Winemaker Byron Kosuge and Nicasio Cheese Co. Cheesemaker Rick Lafranchi to Karen Diggs, a fermentation expert.

Wind & Rye Kitchen has announced a new season of cooking classes, including a summer camp for kids July 16-20 and teen cooking camps on pastry basics July 23-27 and Aug. 6-10.

Other classes include Mastering Fried Chicken on Aug. 15 with Daniel Kedan of Backyard Forestville and a three-day Cake Decorating Workshop with Wind & Rye founder Laci Sandoval on Aug. 22-24.

Italy meets California

L’Artusi, a restaurant in New York’s West Village, will present two evenings of collaborative dinners with Idlewild Wines of Healdsburg on June 23-24 at the Healdsburg Resort House.

The five-course dinners will be prepared by L’Artusi Executive Chef Joe Vigorito and paired with Idlewild’s California-grown Piemontese grape varieties.

Guests can mingle with Idlewild winemaker Sam Bilbro and the team from L’Artusi during a welcome reception, then sit down on the patio for a menu of Grilled Quail, Spaghetti with spot prawns and local uni, Halibut with Santa Rosa plums and salsa verde, Grilled Lamb Chops with succotash and assorted sweets.

RUTHERFORD

Sunset dinner

Round Pond Estate will toast to summer at 6 p.m. June 23 during the annual Sunset Palm Dinner outdoors on the winery’s Palm Drive.

Guests will be served a multi-course dinner featuring Round Pond’s artisan olive oils and vinegar and the estate’s wines. After dinner, they can stroll the 468-acre estate as the sun sets.

SANTA ROSA

Tierra hours

The farm stand at Tierra Vegetables is now open six days a week for its main growing season through December.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Closed Mondays.

In addition to fresh vegetables, berries and herbs, the farm stand also offers prepared foods such as strawberry rhubarb compote, bone broths, hand-made tortillas, cornmeal, dried chiles, heirloom beans, chile seasonings and sauces.

Winemaker spotlight

The Spinster Sisters will welcome winemaker Martha Stoumen of Martha Stoumen Wines this Friday evening, June 15, as part of the restaurant’s Spotlight Series dinners.

Stoumen will pour her spring releases during the dinner, including her Post-Flirtation white and Red blends, as well as her Nero D’avola. Wine will be available by the glass of half-glass, and Chef Liza Hinman will create special dishes to pair with the wines.

Acacia House lunch

Acacia House by Chris Cosentino has launched its new three-course, $29 prix fix lunch menu available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. There are several choices of starters, mains and desserts.

In addition, the restaurant now offers a new happy hour menu, available from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday in the Living Room and Porch.
