A 10-year-old Ukiah boy was killed Saturday when his all-terrain vehicle struck a fence and then landed on top of him, according to the CHP.

David Pomilia was killed in the accident that occurred at a private residence located in the 9000 block of West Road in Redwood Valley, according to the CHP.

The patrol said Pomilia was riding the vehicle at about 3:20 p.m., and for reasons that have yet to be determined, struck a wire fence on the north side of the driveway.

Pomilia was ejected as the 2012 Polaris ATV overturned and it landed on him, the CHP said. He was taken to Ukiah Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The CHP said Pomilia apparently was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
