Bastille Day bash

Francophiles will unite at Juilliard Park from noon to 4 p.m. July 15 during a Bastille Day Bash produced by the Santa Rosa French-American Charter School and the Alliance Francaise of Santa Rosa.

The community celebration, which is free and open to the public, includes French-style music from the Oddjob Ensemble, French games and children’s activities, treasure hunts and sing-alongs of French songs, plus instruction in the art of playing pétanque.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, water and their own picnic lunch.

Restaurant vendors will sell a variety of French food along with wine, lemonade and iced tea.

La Fiesta de la Paella

Gloria Ferrer Cave and Vineyards will host its second annual La Fiesta de la Paella at 6:30 p.m. July 14 at the winery at 32555 Highway 121.

The evening held on the Vista Terrace with Spanish guitar music and Flamenco dancing includes an array of Spanish cheese and charcuterie, two kinds of paella and dessert, all paired with wines.

Preserve the harvest

Learn how to freeze, can, pickle ?and dry fruit and vegetables during a food preservation class taught by Wendy Krupnick at 6 p.m. July 12 at the Sebastopol Hardware Center. ?The class is free and preserving ?supplies are available at a discount after the class until the end of the month.

Summer Suppers

Seghesio Family Vineyards is hosting a series of Summer Suppers on July 19, Aug. 16, Sept. 20 and Oct. 18 outdoors on the Tuscan Terrace.

The family-style dinners, which begin at 5:30 p.m., include roast chicken, seasonal vegetables, mashed potatoes and dessert. Wine is available for purchase. Seating is limited to 30.

The winery will also host a Chef’s Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, that showcases Executive Chef Peter Janiak’s New England roots. The evening begins with a reception with seasonal hors d’oeuvres and 2017 white wines, then continues with a multi-course meal balanced between seafood with the region’s seasonal bounty and paired with Seghesio zinfandels and Italian varietals. Seating is limited to 34 guests.
