SONOMA: Daffodils for Dunbar

Sonoma Mission Gardens has acquired 14,000 bulbs to help beautiful a Glen Ellen neighborhood stricken by the Nuns Fire. The Sonoma nursery is making the bulbs available at cost to all residents of the Valley of the Moon who intend to use them for either the “Dunbar Blooms” project, or another neighborhood planting.

Dunbar Blooms is headed by Trinity Oaks Neighbors and involves the ongoing planting of daffodils to beautify more than two miles of scorched land along Dunbar Road in Glen Ellen. 851 Craig St. Ave, Sonoma.


CLOVERDALE: Habitat Gardens

Master Gardener Walt Hickey will offer tips on how to attract beneficial wildlife to your own back yard during a free talk Saturday, Dec. 9. Hickey will demonstrate how, by using a variety of plants and trees, you can attract a host of song birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators to your garden. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Cloverdale Library, 401 N. SANTA ROSA: SRJC plant sale

Santa Rosa Junior College’s next plant sale Dec. 13, will feature a wide range of plants perfect for fall and winter planting, Look for California natives, fall and winter edibles, Mediterranean herbs, shrubs and vines, succulents, and unusual drought tolerant perennials from around the globe. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lark Hall, Planetarium Way, in the Lark Greenhouse off Elliott Ave.

The Willowside School Nursery is opening up for a special winter sale to appeal to holiday shoppers looking for a living gift for loved ones. Among the plants available will be many succulent arrangements. PETALUMA: Learn to make fresh wreaths, decorations

At this month’s meeting of the Petaluma Garden Club Monday, Dec. 11, at 9:30 a.m., Master Gardener Ellyn Pelikan will give a presentation on creating fresh evergreen decorations for the holidays. During the demonstration, Pelikan will create a number of festive items, from wreaths to centerpieces, which will then be auctioned off to benefit the Garden Club.
