Participate in ?county seed swap

Why buy seed when you can share and swap with your neighbors?

Stock up for spring planting at the Sonma County Seed Swap at a free exchange Feb. 13 at the Sebastopol Grange.

You don’t have to bring seed to participate. There will be plenty for all. But if you do have seed that you have saved, excess commercial seed or plants, bring them to the Sebastopol Grange from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Label your seed variety with the date and details on how it was saved. Seed experts will be on hand to answer questions. The California Rare Fruit Growers also be there with scions to give away or exchange and to share information on grafting and budding.

The event is put on by the Community Seed Exchange, The Occidental Arts & Ecology Center, The Sebastopol Grante and Daily Acts. Communityseedexchange.org

Diane Kenworthy, in a free workshop today, will teach the art of grape growing so you can enjoy the fruits of the vine even in a small space. A professional grape grower for nearly four decades, Kenworthy will talk about the virtues of growing table and wine grapes.
