CAMPFIRE PROGRAM, MAY 27

Bodega Bay: The first interactive campfire gathering ?7 to 8 p.m. Saturdays through Thanksgiving weekend at Doran Beach Regional Park, ?201 Doran Beach Road. FLOATING PLAYGROUND, MAY 27

Santa Rosa: The Spring Lake swimming lagoon, that includes an inflatable playground and new boat rentals, returns Saturday. The lagoon includes areas for free swim and lap swim and there is no admission fee. The floating playground is a network of slides, climbing walls, bridges, balance beams and trampolines. Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Admission to the playground is $10 for adults. A $20 day pass includes an hour of boat rental; and a $60 season pass includes admission and an hour of boat rental daily. Rates for the expanded selection of rental boats start at $12 an hour. MEMORIAL DAY HIKE, MAY 29

RIVER RACE REGISTRATION, JUNE 2

Guerneville: Register by noon June 2 for the Great Russian River Race on Saturday, June 3. No same-day walk-ins allowed for this event. The 4-mile course begins at a private beach and the 8-mile course begins at Steelhead Beach. Both begin at 11 a.m. and end at Johnson’s Beach. Cost is $50 per person excluding boat rental. Free post-race party from noon to 4 p.m. with live music, food and beer at Johnson’s Beach. The event benefits Russian Riverkeeper. COASTAL WILDFLOWERS, JUNE 3

Bodega Bay: Botanist and ecologist Peter Warner leads a 5-mile, moderately steep hike along well-worn dirt and gravel trails through coastal grassland, shrubland and small patches of forest. HIKING and FITNESS, JUNE 3

Glen Ellen: Jack London State Historic Park presents a series of six classes and hikes for fitness on Saturdays this summer. Each class/hike costs $15, and a six-class/hike package is $75. Parking is included. Participants can choose a class/hike that meets their schedule or sign up for all six class/hikes. Learn the basics of hiking from REI and take an easy guided hike on June 3. Subsequent classes address using mindfulness, stretching and yoga to enhance an outdoor experience. The length and difficulty of each hike will increase each week until July 15 with a graduation hike to the summit at Jack London State Historic Park. There is no class/hike July 1. The hikes begin at the ranch parking lot at 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen. The class/hike are from 8:30 to 11 a.m. depending on the length of the hike. Class sizes are limited and the hikes are on uneven terrain with varying degrees of elevation gain and loss. SONOMA RACE REGISTRATION, JUNE 4

Sonoma: Register now for the Hit The Road Jack! race at the Sonoma Plaza. The half-?marathon starts 7:30 a.m., and the 10K and 3.5K start at 8 a.m. The 540-yard Kids Dash for ages nine and under starts at 10 a.m. There’s an after-race festival with food, beer and wine hosted by the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters Association.
