SUMMER SOLSTICE FESTIVITIES, JUNE 21

Santa Rosa: Hike and make stained-glass art to celebrate the longest day of the year, 12-5 p.m. at the Museum on the Go and Mobile Discovery Center at Spring Lake Regional Park, 393 Violetti Road. Free. Parking, $7. 707-539-2865.

WILDFIRE ECOLOGY HIKE, JUNE 23

Santa Rosa: Naturalist-led, round trip 7-mile strenuous hike into the southern section of Hood Mountain Regional Park that burned in the Nuns fire in October, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Bring water and lunch. Sturdy shoes, sunscreen and hat recommended. Meet in the upper parking lot at 1450 Pythian Road. Carpooling is recommended. Parking, $7. Advanced reservation required. sonomacountyparks.org

TRAIL BUILDING, JUNE 22-24

Windsor: Spend a day or camp overnight and spend a weekend with Sonoma County Regional Parks staff and Volunteers for Outdoors California rerouting the Canyon Trail, repaving trail treads and improving drainage at Shiloh Ranch Regional Park, 5750 Faught Road. Starts at 5:30 p.m. June 22. Tools, gloves, instructions and food provided. Free camping for volunteers during the event, registration required. BIKER CHICKS, JUNE 23

STORY WALK, JUNE 24

Gualala: Families with young children take a guided walk down a coastal path with stops to read a bilingual story about a family of whales called Papa's Song every half hour between 10 a.m. and noon. PUEBLO DAY, JUNE 24

FULL MOON HIKE, JUNE 30

Rohnert Park: Join an REI Outdoor School instructor and a Sonoma County Regional Parks naturalist on a 2-3-mile night hike, 6:45-9:45 p.m. at Crane Creek Regional Park, 5000 Pressley Road. SENIOR SAUNTERS, JULY 3

Cloverdale: Take a leisurely walk on paved trails with older adults at Cloverdale River Park, 31820 McCray Road 10-11:30 a.m. Parking, $7. Meet at the parking lot.

HIKE REGISTRATION, JULY 4

Kenwood: Register now for Bill and Dave's Hikes and Team Sugarloaf's July 4 Fireworks Hike to the summit of Bald Mountain at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, 2605 Adobe Canyon Road. Event is from 6:45-11 p.m. The strenuous 6.5-mile roundtrip hike (90 minutes each way) provides a view of 18 fireworks displays in the Bay Area from Windsor to San Francisco and Berkeley and Oakland. $50 for adults, $10 for ages 12-17. Not recommended for under 12. Space is limited and expected to sell out. Proceeds benefit the park. sugarloafpark.org

WELLNESS WALK, JULY 4

Guerneville: Find serenity among the redwoods during a docent-led-walk, 10-11 a.m. at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, 17000 Armstrong Woods Road. Glen Ellen: See how the parks are recovering from the wildfires during an easy to moderate Hike, 10 a.m. to noon in Sonoma Valley Regional Park, 13630 State Highway 12, The Nuns fire burned this park extensively. SCIENCE SATURDAY, JULY 7

FITNESS HIKE, JULY 7

Glen Ellen: Choose an easy to moderate 2-mile guided hike to the lake and back, 9-11 a.m. at Jack London State Historic Park or continue on with for moderate, guided round-trip hike of 6 miles to Upper Fallen Bridge Orchard and return at 1 p.m. 2400 London Ranch Road. Visit jacklondonpark.com

DRAGONFLIES, JULY 8

Santa Rosa: Search lakes, streams and wetlands for dragonflies, 9:30-4:30 p.m. at the Laguna de Santa Rosa. Meet Executive Director Kevin Munroe at Heron Hall in the Laguna Environmental Center, 900 Sanford Road and carpool to sites to search and capture these colorful “eagles of the insect world.” For adults and children 12 and older.
