Thumbs up: Dubs visit with kids was a slam dunk

With so many people leaving the White House these days, the Golden State Warriors might have had a hard time just getting through the front doors even if they wanted to visit with President Donald Trump this week. But they didn’t, and we don’t blame them.

Yes, their trip to Washington this week would have been the opportune time for the 2017 NBA champions to make a visit to the White House. But Trump clearly didn’t like Stephen Curry’s displeasure with the commander-in-chief’s attacks on black professional athletes protesting during the National Anthem. So Trump rescinded an invitation to the White House. Instead, the players did something better. They took a bunch of local students to tour the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The players deserve credit for not politicizing their visit with the students. “The White House is a great honor, but there are other circumstances that we felt not comfortable going,” Klay Thompson said. Once again, the Warriors finish strong. Trump, not so much.
