Zinfandel fanatics are marking their calendars for the Zinfandel Advocate & Producers’ Grand Tasting Feb. 25th in San Francisco at Pier 27. Many are plotting their course because they know there will be a colossal pool of zin to choose from. There are 130 zin producers who will be showcasing 500 different wines. Here’s a peek at some of the producers who will be pouring and a range of zinfandel styles, from genteel to boisterous. (www.zinfandelexperience.com/)

Trentadue, 2014 Zinfandel, $18. A tasty, full-bodied zin with a nice dollop of petite sirah. Aromas and flavors of cherry, plum, toast and spice Smoky finish.

Carol Shelton, 2014 Wild Thing, Mendocino County Old Vine Zinfandel, $19. A snappy zin with notes of raspberry, plum, tobacco and vanilla. Ripe, jammy fruit. Striking.

Limerick Lane, 2014 Russian River Estate Zinfandel, $42. An edgy zin with generous fruit. Nice undercurrent of spice. Bright acidity. Impressive.

Bedrock Wine Co., 2014 Old Vine Zinfandel, $29. A zin that’s complex, with layered flavors of currant, plum, smoke and cracked black pepper. Zesty finish. Bright acidity. Knockout.

Cline, 2015 Ancient Vines Zinfandel, $20. A softer take on zin. Aromas and flavors of strawberry and mocha. Ripe fruit. Seamless texture. Solid.
