Appealing white wines year round

Some people think when you move into fall you change allegiances from white to red wine. However that’s not the case. White wine is just as appealing as ever, even when warm weather tapers off, with layers of fruit and spice that pair well with hearty meals.

Quivira Vineyard, 2016 Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, $17. A dry sauvignon blanc with zesty fruit. Notes of peach, grass and a hint of vanilla. Generous fruit. Bright acid. Pretty.

Balletto, 2015 Russian River Valley, Chardonnay, 13.3%, $28. A lovely chardonnay with pitch perfect balance. Lush apple notes are kept in check with bright mineral. Nice length. Bright acidity. Striking.
