Appealing white wines year round

White wine is just as appealing as ever, even when warm weather tapers off.|

Some people think when you move into fall you change allegiances from white to red wine. However that’s not the case. White wine is just as appealing as ever, even when warm weather tapers off, with layers of fruit and spice that pair well with hearty meals.

Husch, 2016 La Ribera Vineyards, Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc, 13.8%, $15. This sauvignon blanc has an impressive range -- lime, grass, pineapple and guava. Nice length. Refreshing.

Pieropan, 2016 Soave Classico, Italy, 12%, $20. A pretty white with stone fruit – white peach and nectarine. Silky texture. Bright acidity. Great minerality. Lovely.

Fogline Vineyards, 2016 Cloud 12 Vineyard Sonoma Coast Rosé of Syrah, 14.8%, $28. A pretty rosé with bright and lively notes of watermelon, cherry, strawberry and mineral. Bright acidity. A crisp watermelon finish.

Quivira Vineyard, 2016 Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, $17. A dry sauvignon blanc with zesty fruit. Notes of peach, grass and a hint of vanilla. Generous fruit. Bright acid. Pretty.
