Holiday spirit at CIA

The Culinary Institute if America at Copia will get into the spirit during a Holiday Marketplace from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with an array of Bay Area vendors selling artisan goods.

You can eat, drink and shop for everything from olive oil and olive trees to chocolate and culinary tools at the holiday showplace.

The CIA at Copia is located at 500 First St. ciaatcopia.com

HEALDSBURG

Glogg, treats at West Wines

West Wines will celebrate a Scandinavian Christmas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Healdsburg winery.

Glogg, a hot mulled wine with raisins and almonds traditionally served the month leading up to Christmas, will be available. The tasting room will be decorated with Swedish Christmas decorations such as the popular “tomte” Christmas gnomes, which you can purchase, along with wine glasses, champagne flutes and wine.

The event is included with the regular tasting fees. 1000 Dry Creek Road.

Taylor Lane’s new coffee bar

Taylor Lane Organic Coffee has opened its second coffee bar inside Whole Foods Market at Coddingtown Mall.

The coffee bar features a full menu of organic coffee and teas as well as specialty breakfast items such as avocado toast with scallion oil and microgreens.

The first coffee bar opened in San Francisco’s Whole Foods Mark in the Castro in September. Taylor Lane currently has cafes in Sebastopol and Petaluma.

Whole Foods is located at 390 Coddingtown Mall.

Learn about historic drinks

The California Historical Society will present “Back to the Future: A History of Bay Area Food and Drink” at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Old U.S. Mint.

Speakers include Culinary Historian Erica Peters, Amy and Gary Guittard of Guittard Chocolates, Bob Klein of Oliveto and Community Grains, Lance Winter of Saint George Spirits and Susan Coss of Mezcalistas.

Tickets are $50 in advance, including small bites, cocktails, beer wine and Irish coffees by the Buena Vista Cafe. To register, go to my.californiahistoricalsociety.org.

Santa sets sail at Nick’s Cove

Santa will have salt in his beard when he arrives via water sleigh at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Boat Shack at Nick’s Cove Restaurant.

Santa will collect new, unwrapped toys for local children in need. Those who donate will receive a gift certificate for a free dessert and a small bag of freshly made holiday treats.

There will also be photos with Santa for the children in attendance. 23240 Highway 1.
