2 dead, 1 injured in crash near Sonoma

Two people were killed Sunday and another person was injured in a head-on collision in Schellville, the CHP said.

The 67-year-old man and 62-year-old woman who died in the 2:15 p.m. crash were not identified pending notification of next of kin, Officer Scott Cakebread said.

They were northbound on Highway 121 just north of Ramal Road in a Toyota Corolla when the car swerved across the double-yellow lines and struck an oncoming Ford F-250 pickup traveling 45-50 mph, Cakebread said.

Both vehicles overturned, he said.

The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene, Cakebread said.

The driver of the pickup, Kevin Nelson, 39, of Windsor, was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, Cakebread said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
