A motorist fleeing from authorities early Sunday in Santa Rosa lost control of his car and crashed into six parked vehicles, the Highway Patrol reported.
Speeding west on Hopper Avenue at 12:53 a.m., the driver lost control of his 1992 Acura Legend and spun counterclockwise near the intersection with Mocha Lane, CHP Officer Marcus Hawkins said in a press release.
The Acura slammed sideways into the front of a GMC Jimmy parked on the south side of the road, pushing it 40 feet into a driveway, where it struck a Suburban.
The Suburban was pushed into a Mitsubishi Montero, which then struck a BMW 325i, Hawkins said.
The Acura, after striking the Jimmy, continued to spin 270 degrees and collided head-on with a Jeep, also parked on the south side of the road. The Jeep was forced back into a Honda Civic.
The driver, who received minor injuries, was not identified because he is a minor, Hawkins said.
A passenger in the right front seat, Alejandro Cervantes, 27, of Merced was pinned in the Acura and had to be extracted by firefighters. He sustained a broken hip.
Another passenger, Seferino Lopez Olvero, 20, of Atwater had a broken nose, and all three were transported to a hospital for emergency care, Hawkins said.
The incident began when a CHP officer spotted the Acura driving on the wrong side of Steele Lane with the headlights off, Hawkins said. The car turned onto Cleveland Avenue and continued moving as the officer attempted a traffic stop.
A passenger threw an object out of a window and it was recovered by a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy who was following the CHP officer. Authorities said it was a sawed-off, break-open 20-gauge shotgun.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony reckless evading and possession of a firearm, Hawkins said. Cervantes and Olvera were held on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
Alcohol was not involved, Hawkins said.
