Fishermen find body in Russian River

Two fishermen on the Russian River found the body of a man Tuesday morning, tangled in brush along the banks north of Guerneville, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said.

The fishermen called 911 at 10:38 a.m. to report their gruesome discovery, according to emergency dispatch reports.

An engine and ambulance from Russian River fire in downtown Guerneville arrived at 10:46 a.m.

Deputies and the Sonoma County Coroner's Office also responded, according to sheriff's officials.

The man's identity wasn't immediately known and it wasn't clear how long the man's body had been in the river or how he died, officials said.
