No sign of foul play in Russian River death

There was no obvious evidence of foul play in the death of a man found Tuesday in the Russian River, a Sonoma County Coroner's official said Wednesday.

Coroner's investigators have identified the man as a Guerneville area transient. His name was withheld Wednesday while investigators attempted to contact the man's family, said Sgt. Greg Stashyn.

Two fishermen spotted the body Tuesday morning, caught up in bushes along the river's edge.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
