Onita Pellegrini, a nine-year veteran of the Santa Rosa Junior College board of trustees, on Tuesday resigned her post effective mid-March, college officials announced.
Pellegrini, 66, has served on the board since being appointed to a seat vacated following Kathleen Doyle's resignation in 2005. She was elected after running unopposed in 2010.
Pellegrini told officials her job as CEO of the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce and her father's declining health are demanding more of her time.
The board will launch a search to temporarily fill the post on the seven-member board immediately.
Candidates must reside in trustee area two which includes Petaluma, Penngrove and the surrounding area, as well as a northern portion of Marin County.
Information about the filling the post can be found at www.santarosa.edu/district_governance/ or by calling 527-4431. The deadline to submit an application is 4 p.m. Feb. 5.
