Sebastopol police arrest woman suspected of prostitution

Sebastopol police Monday night arrested a Sacramento woman they suspect of prostitution and drug possession, said a police official Tuesday.

It's the third suspected prostitution arrest in the small town in a week, according to Sebastopol police reports.

Sgt. Mike Nielsen said Catherine Rivera, 24, was taken into custody at about 9:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Inn on Gravenstein Highway South.

As well as the misdemeanor, she was arrested on suspicion of a felony, possession of the drug ecstasy and an infraction involving marijuana.

Police have investigated local alleged prostitution via online websites. The site led officers to connect with the three women they've arrested, said Nielsen.

Rivera wasn't booked into the Sonoma County Jail but was cited to appear in court.
