Driver arrested after Lake County car crash

A Tahoe City man suffered major injuries and was arrested following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 175 in Lake County on Tuesday.

David Mahoney, 47, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after being flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with injuries that included fractures of his skull and vertebrae, according to the CHP.

Mahoney was driving west on Highway 175 near Harrington Flat Road when he lost control of his Toyota Tacoma, according to CHP spokesman Kory Reynolds.

The vehicle struck an embankment and overturned, the CHP said.

Mahoney, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle, according to the CHP.

The crash remains under investigation, the CHP said.
