Fire destroys garage at southwest Santa Rosa home

Firefighters think faulty electrical wiring may have caused a Thursday night fire that destroyed a detached garage on a Todd Road property in southwest Santa Rosa.

The fire remains under investigation, however, so the cause had not been confirmed, Central Fire Battalion Chief David Cornelssen said.

Crews from four fire departments fought the 10:46 p.m. blaze west of Highway 101, preventing it from spreading to the residential structure in close proximity, Cornelssen said.

The fire caused estimated damage of $25,000, he said.

Firefighters from Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa, Rancho Adobe and Rohnert Park fire departments collaborated in the firefight, he said.
