Deb Fudge gets Jared Huffman endorsement

Windsor Council member Deb Fudge, a candidate for the northern Sonoma County board of supervisor's seat, has received the endorsement of U.S. Congressman Jared Huffman.

Fudge announced the backing from Huffman, who cited her experience, passion for community projects and "track record of success in Sonoma County."

Huffman, D-San Rafael, represents the 2nd Congressional District of California, which takes in Windsor and almost all the supervisorial district Fudge is hoping to represent.

Huffman pointed to Fudge's near 20 years of public service, including serving five times as mayor of Windsor; her role in developing the Windsor Town Green; and her past chairmanship of the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit board.

Fudge is running for the third time for supervisor of the Fourth District, which includes parts of north Santa Rosa, along with Wikiup-Larkfield, Windsor, Healdsburg and Cloverdale.

Incumbent Mike McGuire has decided not to seek re-election. Instead, he is vying for the seat held by state Sen. Noreen Evans D-Santa Rosa, who is not running for office.

Evans also has endorsed Fudge.

Also in the North County supervisorial race are James Gore, a former assistant chief in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service; Healdsburg Councilman Tom Chambers; former Healdsburg Councilman Pete Foppiano; and Keith Rhinehart, a former UPS supervisor and part-time teacher.
