Man's death near Lakeport under investigation

Lake County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a man outside Lakeport on Tuesday afternoon, but details are scarce.

Late Tuesday, Sheriff Frank Rivero confirmed local media reports that a man was found dead in the area of Lakeport Boulevard and Robin Hill Drive with stab wounds around 2:30 p.m., but he would not confirm whether the man had been thrown from a vehicle and run over, as the Lake County News website reported.

Rivero declined to release more information on the victim or the circumstances that led to his death, saying detectives were still on scene. He said officers did have "very strong persons of interest" and said he expected a quick resolution to the case.
