Vacant SRJC board seat draws 6 hopefuls

Six people have applied to fill the Area 2 seat on the Santa Rosa Junior College Board of Trustees. Onita Pellegrini, a nine-year veteran of the board, announced in January her intention to resign her post effective mid-March.

Board members will interview all six applicants, according to Frank Chong, college president.

"We want to give everyone equal consideration," he said.

Interviews are scheduled for Feb. 20. The board is expected to take action at the March 11 board meeting.

Pellegrini, 66, has served on the board since being appointed to a seat vacated following Kathleen Doyle's resignation in 2005. She was elected after running unopposed in 2010.

She told officials her job as CEO of the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce and her father's declining health are demanding more of her time.
