Alleged pimp arrested in Rohnert Park motel shooting

A man accused of being a pimp was arrested by Rohnert Park police Saturday night after allegedly shooting out the window of a car during a prostitution deal gone bad.

Christopher Jerome Roberson, 34, of North Highlands was taken into custody after police pulled him and a female prostitute over in Petaluma.

The incident began around 8:15 p.m. with numerous calls of shots fired outside the Roadway Inn on Redwood Drive. Arriving police found shell casings and a car with a shattered driver's side window, police said.

After receiving a description of a vehicle fleeing the area, officers gave chase, caught up with the car on Highway 101, and pulled it over near Lakeville Highway.

Roberson and the woman were taken into custody without incident. Investigators determined that Roberson pulled a gun on a customer in the motel parking lot during a disagreement, shooting out the window of a parked car while the customer fled on foot, police said.

The female prostitute was questioned and released.

Roberson was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of burglary, pimping, brandishing a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and possession of cocaine. He remained in custody Sunday afternoon on $15,000 bail.
