9 arrested during raid at Mendocino pot co-op

Nine Mendocino County residents, including a locally prominent activist and performance artist, were arrested Tuesday following a multi-agency law enforcement raid related to a marijuana cooperative in the village of Mendocino.

Authorities from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, Major Crimes Task Force, District Attorney's Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration seized packaged marijuana, pot-laced food products, 800 marijuana plants, five firearms and about $65,000 in cash while serving four search warrants related to the Love In it Cooperative, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's officials did not say what prompted the searches and arrests related to the cooperative, which has been in operation since 2011, according to its website.

Among those arrested was Sherry Glaser, 53, of Albion, a local activist, public radio show host and performance artist known to bare her breasts during protests. She also is the cooperative's executive director and manages its "bed, bud and breakfast" rental, according to the cooperative's website.

She was arrested on charges that include suspicion of marijuana possession, cultivation and sales.

Glaser could not be reached for comment Wednesday. She was released earlier in the day, according to jail authorities.

Also arrested on a variety of marijuana-related charges were Robert Love, 52, of Fort Bragg; Dana Howells, 26, of Comptche, Larissa Maple, 26, of Comptche, Howard Baker, 56, of Comptche, Kevin Logan, 34, of Comptche, Michael Spradlin, 19, of Fort Bragg, Colton Nation, 18, of Albion, and Cassidy Erickson, 18, of Fort Bragg.

Love additionally was charged with possession of an assault rifle, according to sheriff's officials.
