Suspects identified in Sonoma County bottle-throwing incidents

CHP officers have identified two juveniles as suspects in a recent spate of incidents where water bottles were thrown from a pickup truck at moving vehicles outside of Sebastapol and in the Santa Rosa area.

No arrests have been made and officers are still building a case, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.

The CHP reported that as many as 10 vehicles were hit by water bottle during a two-week period in February, including two school buses.

In one case, a bottle shattered the windshield of a schoolbus, causing the driver minor injuries. The injuries elevated the investigation to a felony case, the CHP said at the time. No children were on the buses at the time of the incidents.

The bottle throwing came to an end on Feb. 22 when the CHP released photos showing a white Toyota Tacoma believed to be involved in the attacks and prompting the truck's owner to contact officers through a lawyer.

At the time, Sloat said that the owner did not appear to be involved in the attacks. He may have loaned the truck to the juveniles believed to be responsible, Sloat said Thursday.

The truck's owner has not been cooperative during the investigation, nor have the suspects, Sloat said. The CHP has not disclosed the truck owner's name.
