Report of gunfire draws dozens of deputies, police to Roseland

Dozens of law enforcement officials converged upon a Sebastopol Road auto body shop late Saturday night after reports of gunfire.

At least 15 vehicles from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, the Windsor and Santa Rosa police departments and the CHP responded at about 9:45 p.m. to the location of a party attended by more than 50 people at Acme Automotive. People interviewed at the scene said the party was some type of birthday celebration. The celebration included young children.

Sheriff's investigators were seen marking and picking up bullet casings outside the body shop. They interviewed scores of partygoers, neighbors and people at nearby businesses but were dealing with conflicting reports about the source and direction of the gunfire, which crossed Sebastopol Road.

Deputies could be seen interviewing an uncooperative woman who had blood on her dress but no wounds.

After being questioned by deputies, partygoers, including the woman, began filing back into the shop, where piles of wrapped presents had yet to be opened.

The woman declined to give her name or be interviewed.

Sebastopol Road was closed between Stony Point Road and Hampton Way until about 11:30 p.m.
