2 sought in west Santa Rosa shooting

Santa Rosa police are searching for two people they believe shot a man in west Santa Rosa Saturday night.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and his car hit with multiple bullets, Sgt. Lisa Banayat said in a news release.

The department's gang crimes and violent crimes teams are investigating the shooting, but police have not yet confirmed that the crime is gang-related, Benayat said.

Officers were called to Fresno Avenue and Northpoint Parkway at just before 10 p.m. after multiple people reported hearing shots fired and speeding vehicles in the area.

They found the 21-year-old man, who sat alone in a car in front of the fire station on Corporate Center Parkway.

He told police that two people in another car had fired at him and fled the area. He was taken to the hospital.

Officers found an unoccupied vehicle they believe to be connected parked a few blocks away. They impounded the car but did not find any weapons.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at 543-3670.
