Officer procession scheduled for slain Mendocino County deputy

Caltrans is expecting up to 1,000 law enforcement vehicles to participate in a procession Wednesday morning from Ukiah to Fort Bragg for the memorial of a slain Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputy.

Motorists on the route can expect possible 45-minute delays, Caltrans said, as law enforcement officers from around the state make their way to the memorial for Deputy Ricky Del Fiorentino, who was killed in the line of duty last week.

The procession will begin in Ukiah between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., travel north on Highway 101 to Willits, west on Highway 20 to Highway 1, then briefly south along Highway 1 to Pearl Drive before turning north to arrive at the Georgia Pacific Mill site in Fort Bragg at about 9 a.m.

Caltrans is coordinating with the California Highway Patrol, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Department, and other local law enforcement agencies to provide traffic control at major intersections including Highway 101/Highway 20 in Willits and Highway 1/Highway 20 and Highway 1/Simpson Lane in Fort Bragg.
