Petaluma checkpoints net DUI suspects, unlicensed drivers

Petaluma police arrested two people suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during two DUI checkpoints held Saturday night through Sunday morning.

12 people were cited for driving without a license or on a suspended license.

Police held the checkpoint to raise awareness about the dangers of drunken drivers and catch impaired and unlicensed drivers in the act, Sgt. Jim Stephenson said in a news release. It was funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety.
