Letter of the Day: Petty, costly Santa Rosa City Hall quarrel

Petty, costly quarrel

EDITOR: Silly me. I was under the delusion that the well-compensated people in city government were there to serve us, the taxpayers, not to spend our money to resolve petty quarrels among themselves ("Wysocky inquiry complete, still secret," Thursday). The estimated $50,000 spent on this inquiry would go a long way toward removing the weeds in our city parks, for example.

I would guess that that San Francisco lawyer would charge about $1,000 to drive up here, grab a quick lunch and drive back to the city. Would the city manager have hired him if it were her money she was spending, instead of ours? Some of the people in government act like privileged aristocrats. Can't we get real and elect/hire people who work for us?
