Police: Body found in Clearlake home showed signs of trauma

Clearlake police detectives Thursday continued to investigate an apparent homicide of a resident, found dead Wednesday afternoon in his home.

The name of the male victim hasn't been released as police still were attempting to reach his family, Clearlake Sgt. Nick Bennett said Thursday.

The body was found when a detective went by the Ladell Avenue home to contact the resident regarding a prior issue.

The front door was kicked open. The detective found the body on the living room floor and signs of trauma, Bennett said.

Detectives also are investigating whether a burglary was involved.

Bennett released few details about the case and said there currently are no suspects.

An autopsy hadn't yet been conducted to determine an official cause of death, he said.

Ladell Avenue is in a downtown Clearlake residential district.
