Sue Hufford would no doubt be pleased by this.
Children fortunate to have learned music from her will have a chance to step to a microphone at a community meal on May 16 and play in tribute to her.
Sue ran the music program at the Mark West Union schools until her death in that horrific crash on Highway 12 at Farmers Lane that also claimed her mother-in-law, Sharon Hufford.
A pasta dinner on Friday, May 16, at Mark West Elementary will benefit the music program that was such a large and gratifying part of Sue's life.
Hosting the 5 to 7:30 p.m. meal and musical showcase will be Leadership Santa Rosa colleagues of Sue's husband, and Sharon's son, Jay.
Food will be donated by "Pasta King" Art Ibleto, Costeaux Bakery and Cold Stone Creamery.

HISTORY IDLES: If you're thinking you'll go to Sonoma Raceway on Wednesday to witness Randy Ricci's attempt at a world record combining stock-car racing and crunchy grains, think again.
Track officials apologetically informed Randy that Wednesday will not work out for him to arrange along the start/finish line his 300-plus cereal boxes bearing images of NASCAR cars and drivers.
His attempt for a Guinness record is reset for about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7.
EIGHT YEARS OLDER: There's a story behind the 101 photographic portraits that now adorn the dining room at La Rose Hotel.
In 2006, a group of Railroad Square merchants conceived a way to observe Santa Rosa's rising up from the hugely destructive earthquake of 1906.
They invited local people of all ages to come to the square and be considered for inclusion in a special photo exhibit. Photographers Ed Aiona and Bruce Shippee shot portraits of 101 people, one a newborn, one aged 1, one 2, one 3, all the way up to 100.
"Faces of a Century" went on long-term exhibit at the square's Teevax store. A remodeling project there at Teevax required that the photos be moved, so they are now down Wilson Street at the 107-year-old La Rose Hotel.
From 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, Railroad Square will hold a reception at the hotel. Everyone's invited, and the hope is that many of the portrait models will be there.
How fun, to look at all these people standing alongside studio photos of themselves from eight years ago.
Of course some of the older "Faces," like the exhibit itself, have moved on.
EVELYN ANDERSEN is almost 101 and the daughter who cares for her, Barbara Lobdell, is 80.
Lately, Barbara had a heck of a time finding a hospital bed they could afford to rent.
The Ron Andrews of Ron Andrews Medical Company heard of their plight from Diana Brown, an assistant to Dr. Nancy Davidson.
And Andrews delivered to the mother and daughter a gift. Barbara said her mom's new bed is the best one she's slept in, ever.
