Relief from year's hottest days expected Friday (w/video)

Friday should signal the start of an expected sharp decline that by early next week could drop temperatures into the 60s with a chance of rain, according to AccuWeather meteorologist Ken Clark.

"We've had the big coaster," said Clark, referring to the dramatic swings in temperature from the rapidly changing spring air flow. "It was very cool late last week. Then got warm quickly. We're continuing to expect pretty hot weather."

Average temperatures for Santa Rosa and the area for this time of year are in the low 70s.

Looking into next week, initial weather reports show clouds and strong winds likely and much cooler temperatures.
