Highway 101 construction to disrupt Airport Boulevard traffic

Construction work this week at Airport Boulevard and Highway 101 will disrupt traffic on the overpass and highway starting Tuesday.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Caltrans will begin switching traffic to the new bridge at Airport Boulevard. The traffic switch will be complete by Wednesday at 7 a.m. Motorists can expect temporary lane and ramp closures, Caltrans said.

On Saturday night, bridge demolition will begin on the old structure over northbound Highway 101. Highway 101 will be closed in both directions from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

For the northbound detour, exit at Fulton Road, continue to Old Redwood Highway and turn left. Continue to Shiloh Road and turn left. Take the northbound 101 on-ramp.

For the southbound detour, exit on Shiloh Road and turn left. Continue to Old Redwood Highway and turn right. Turn right on Fulton Road and continue to the southbound 101 loop on-ramp.

On Sunday night, there will be lane closures on northbound Highway 101 for demolition of the bridge over the old northbound loop on-ramp from 9 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday. At least one lane will remain open during this work.

On Saturday night, May 17, demolition will close southbound Highway 101 from 11 p.m. on May 17 to 7 a.m. on May 18.

The same southbound detour will be in place.
