17-year-old girl dies in wreck west of Santa Rosa

A 17-year-old girl died in a single-car crash west of Santa Rosa after a 2008 Honda Civic flipped over, hit a tree and a utility pole and came to rest upside-down in an open field.

The identity of the girl, a passenger in the car, was not available, pending notification of family, the CHP said.

The girl, who was riding in the front seat, was ejected from the car and became trapped under it, the CHP said.

The car's female driver and a male passenger riding in the back seat of the Civic were taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital, one with a moderate to serious head injury. Their conditions, ages and names were not available, the CHP said.

The wreck, which was called in just before 8 p.m., occurred on Llano Road south of Ludwig Avenue. The impact knocked down a tree and utility pole, and power lines fell onto the road.

Llano Road was closed between Ludwig Avenue and Todd Road while emergency officials investigated the wreck.

Emergency crews from Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa and the CHP responded to the crash. PG&E was on the scene to clear the power lines.
